Chevrolet is one of the automobile brands of General Motors (GM) in the United States. It is recognized as the most popular brand and is nicknamed Chevy. In Korea, the former Daewoo Motor's passenger car division was sold to General Motors, and Chevrolet's brand will be moved to Seoul through GM Korea. Chevrolet sells more than 20 different cars, various versions of its models, and is especially famous in the passenger car and midsize truck markets. A typical pickup truck is Silverado. Chevrolet aims to produce popular cars in the future, and is expected to play a leading role in the future automotive market, such as electric and self-driving cars.

1. History of Chevrolet

Chevrolet was jointly founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant. Since its inception, it has aimed to produce popular cars and quickly gained popularity for its low price and outstanding performance. The first model of the Chevrolet, the Classic Six, was a compact car with a four-cylinder engine, launched in 1912, and sold at a very low price at the time. The Classic Six gained huge popularity and became a model that led to Chevrolet's success. In 1929, it used the first six-cylinder engine in commercial vehicles. The six-cylinder engine was a very powerful engine at the time and greatly improved the performance of commercial vehicles. The Corvette, Chevrolet's first mass-produced sports car, was launched in 1953. The Corvette has gained huge popularity since its launch, and remains a representative model of Chevrolet to this day. The Corvette is famous for its powerful performance and sophisticated design, and is loved by car fans all over the world. Chevrolet is sold in more than 100 countries around the world and is one of the most popular car brands in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, China, and India. 2. Chevrolet CEO

The current CEO of Chevrolet is Roberto Lempel. Lempel is the first non-American to be named Chevrolet's global CEO. He is focused on driving Chevrolet's global growth and improving its brand image. It also emphasizes Chevrolet's leading role in the future automotive market, such as electric and self-driving cars.

 

Roberto Lempel holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the university of Brasilia in Brazil and an MBA from the university of Wales in England. Since joining General Motors (GM) Brazil in 1982, he has worked in product planning and vehicle development at GM's global operations, including Germany, Italy, and Japan. He was appointed as the first president of GM Technical Center Korea (GMTCK) and operated a research and development corporation in charge of design, product engineering, and production technology, and was appointed as the CEO of GM Korea in 2022. He is regarded as an expert in new car development at GM. GM Korea plans to deploy about 1,200 workers at its Bupyeong 2 plant to its Changwon plant and Bupyeong 1 plant within 2022. The labor union is demanding the construction of electric vehicle production facilities at the Bupyeong 2 plant, which is expected to be closed by the end of this year. The management plans to bring 10 electric vehicle models of GM headquarters into Korea by 2025, making it difficult to invest in electric vehicle facilities.

3. The Future of Chevrolet

Chevrolet is a global car brand with a history of more than 100 years. It is loved by consumers all over the world for its low price and excellent performance. Chevrolet aims to produce popular cars in the future, and is expected to play a leading role in the future automotive market, such as electric and self-driving cars.
